This case is about the 2014 FIFA world champions Germany. It discusses how years of preparation went into making the winning team, and the strategies that Germany followed to emerge the champions. Germany, which won the championship previously in 1990, started preparing for the world cup right in 2000. Youngsters were tapped through youth system in which all the clubs in Germany were a part. Best of the talent was picked up, and was coached for several years. The coaches trained them in attacking game, and also incorporated several techniques from across the world. During the tournament, the team was clear about what they have to achieve and each player’s role was clearly defined. The team had a strategy for each match. Several such factors helped Germany emerge the champions. |
